Camp can't happen without FOOD!  Are you looking for a summer kitchen job with real responsibility? The Summer Food Service Assistant is a key leadership role. You will serve as a 'Second in Command,' ensuring the kitchen operates safely and efficiently even when the Manager is away. We need a reliable leader who can manage a team and maintain high standards of hospitality.  If you love camp, but aren't sure about working with kids, make pancakes instead!  Everyone loves the pancake people!

What You Will Do

This role requires a higher level of skill and authority than a standard food service worker.

  • Shift Leadership: You will frequently lead kitchen shifts, supervising the team and managing meal service in the absence of the Food Service Manager.

  • Safety Compliance: Utilizing your Person In Charge (PIC) training, you will be the designated safety officer on duty, ensuring all health codes are met.

  • Operational Oversight: Manage food prep schedules, check serving temperatures, and oversee opening/closing procedures and cleanup.

  • Support: Provide critical camp ministry support by ensuring our guests are fed on time and with excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts in the kitchen (alone and/or with others)
  • Serve meals to campers
  • Prepare meals
  • Wash dishes
  • Follow all IH and Health Department Rules & Regulations

Must Have

  • PIC Certification (or willing to obtain it)
  • Be consistently reliable and on-time
  • Leadership: The ability to direct others


Nice to have

  • Experience working in an industrial kitchen.
